Brief: Co-Creating Canada's Future

This information brief summarizes the critical insights from our October 7th, 2025 webinar, "Co-Creating Canada's Future: Youth Perspectives on Canada's Seven Federal Missions". Hosted by ICI Canada in partnership with the Canadian Science Policy Centre (CSPC) and Research Money, the forum was designed to ensure the voices of young Canadians, who are most impacted by today's policy decisions, are formally heard by decision-makers.

Key insights include:

  1. Urgent priorities: An audience poll identified making housing more affordable (26%) and attracting the best talent (26%) as the most urgent federal missions requiring short-term action.

  2. Systemic Barriers: Panelists unanimously identified that progress on all missions is primarily hindered by systemic issues, including a lack of political will, risk aversion, bureaucracy, and the failure of interjurisdictional collaboration.

  3. Actionable Recommendations: This brief details a specific, youth-informed recommendation, such as implementing a youth advisory committee for the new Build Canada Homes (BCH) agency and making strategic investments in Canada's domestic hardware semiconductor and advanced manufacturing supply chain to ensure sovereignty.
