A POLYCRISIS DOCUMENTARY

PROJECT OVERVIEW

In partnership with Carleton University's Bachelor of Media Production and Design program, ICI Canada is developing a short documentary to help citizens understand and engage with the complex challenges facing Canada. This project aims to make the concept of the polycrisis more accessible and actionable for broader audiences.

OUR KEY FOCUS AREAS

  • Understanding citizen perspectives on global risks.

  • Facilitating community conversations.

  • Leveraging digital technologies for common understanding.

  • Exploring storytelling's role in adaptation.

PURPOSE

In today's interconnected world, decision-makers need better tools to understand and address complex challenges across economic, social, environmental, geopolitical, and technological domains. Galileo AI combines advanced artificial intelligence with systems thinking to help visualize relationships, forecast outcomes, and identify opportunities for intervention within Canada's science, technology, and innovation ecosystem.

While the polycrisis affects everyone, discussion s about interconnected global risks often remain within policy and academic circles. This project seeks to brdge that gap by creating engaging narratives using digital technology that help citizens - especially young people - understand how various challenges like climate change, social fragmentation, and disinformation connect to their daily lives and future prospects.

IMPACT

This initiative will help:

  • Make complex global challenges more understandable to Canadians.

  • Foster productive community dialogues.

  • Empower citizen participation in solutions.

  • Build bridges between policy discussions and public understanding.

  • Create inclusive learning environments.

PROJECT STATUS

The Project has come to a close. Our student partners from Carleton University; Almog, Erik, Tyson, Angela, and Brianna presented the 3-part documentary at their year-end exhibition. It has been a whild success as we plan for future steps on distributing the complete documentary.
